How to Avoid Repossession FAQ
Sometimes people get into a serious situation and it seems like there is no way out of their money worries.
At A Need to Sell we can stop your house being repossessed within hours. Whatever part of the process you are embroiled in, whether you are in arrears with payments or have been served with an eviction notice, we have the know how to step in and help stop the process right up to the eviction date.
We know that everyone's case is unique and we promise to listen sympathetically and act quickly.
How does it work?
It's simple! We buy your home and rent it back to you. All costs are covered and we have a legally binding sale quixkly and a handover date within 4 – 6 weeks.
Your solicitor will pay back your lender and any secured debts that are outstanding and we rent the house back to you, so your family doesn't have to move. Because we agree your rent in advance you know just what your payments will be and we guarantee that your rent will be dramatically less than your previous monthly outgoings for mortgage and/or secured loan repayments.
Read our Sell and Rent Back section for more details.
Can I just hand back the keys to my lender?
No. The lender will sell the house and if that doesn't make enough money they will continue to recover the money from you for up to five years. You remain responsible for ongoing mortgage interest until the date of the sale and also the cost of the sale – everything from locksmith costs, survey fees, legal fees, utility bills and estate agency fees.
At A Need to Sell we cover all these costs, leaving you free to clear all your debts with the money we pay you for our home.
Do you make any charges?
No. We cover the survey and solicitor's fees. There are no estate agency fees. The figure we offer you is the figure you get.
Who needs to know?
If you sell your home to A Need to Sell it is a private transaction. Your lender will know – they will be getting back their money, after all!
Apart from that there are no signs outside your house and no one tramping through for viewings. Richard or Brian and the surveyor are the only ones who will visit you, but no one needs to know that you've made this decision or why.
